How to sync Fitbit / Pixel Watch with Apple Health
Yes, as of August 2026. The Fitbit app became Google Health in May 2026, and Google Health 5.05 for iPhone (released 3 August 2026) added an official Apple Health connection that writes Fitbit data (workouts with routes, steps, heart rate, sleep with stages, SpO2, weight and more) to Apple Health. Heart rate variability and skin temperature are not written. Pixel Watch is a separate case: Google does not support pairing it with an iPhone at all.

5 steps on your iPhone, about two minutes.
Before you start

- A Fitbit tracker or watch paired with the iPhone. Pixel Watch officially requires an Android phone and cannot be set up with an iPhone
Update the app
Update Google Health (formerly Fitbit) from the App Store to version 5.05 or later and sign in with a Google Account. If you still use a Fitbit account, move it to a Google Account first.

After setup
The Fitbit first syncs to Google Health over Bluetooth, then Google Health writes supported records to Apple Health, so there is a two-step delay. Turn on Background App Refresh for Google Health; Battery saver and Bedtime mode limit background syncing. To force it, open Google Health > Connections and pull down. The connection is two-way: Google Health also reads data from Apple Health (about three months of history at first). Reinstalling the app requires reconnecting and re-granting permissions.
Avoid double-counting
Because the link is two-way, Google Health also imports Apple Watch and iPhone data and says it tries to remove duplicates from multiple connections. In Apple Health, set which source counts: Health app > Browse > Activity > Steps (and Active Energy, Sleep, etc.) > Data Sources & Access > Edit, then drag Google Health or your Apple Watch to the top. If you also send Fitbit workouts to Strava and Strava writes to Apple Health, you can get duplicate workouts; let only one app write workouts.
Put Google Health (formerly Fitbit) first in Apple Health
- Health
- Browse
- Activity
- Steps
- Data Sources & Access
- Edit
- Open the Health app and tap Browse.
- Choose a category and a data type, for example Activity → Steps.
- Scroll down and tap Data Sources & Access.
- Tap Edit, then touch and hold the handle next to your device’s app and drag it to the top.
- Tap Done. Repeat for other data types you track with more than one device, such as Active Energy or Walking + Running Distance.
The source at the top wins when several write the same data type. New apps and devices are added at the top automatically. Apple Support ↗
Fitbit / Pixel Watch not syncing to Apple Health?
Apple Health is not listed under Connections
Update Google Health to 5.05 or later, check the iPhone runs iOS 16.4 or later, and make sure you are signed in with an adult Google Account (not a legacy Fitbit account).
"Couldn't connect with Apple Health" error
Google's advice is to confirm the iPhone is online and try again later. Also check Apple Health > Sharing > Apps > Google Health permissions.
Steps or sleep show up late in Apple Health
The tracker must sync to Google Health first. Keep it near the phone, turn on Background App Refresh (Settings > General > Background App Refresh), allow Bluetooth for Google Health (Settings > Privacy & Security > Bluetooth), turn off Low Power/Bedtime modes, and pull down on the Connections screen to sync.
HRV is missing in Apple Health
Expected: Google Health does not write HRV or skin temperature to Apple Health. A third-party app such as Health Sync by appyhapps lists Google Health (Fitbit) as a source and HRV among its data types.
A data type is missing after an update
New types need a separate permission. Look for "NEW" on the Apple Health card or a "New data types available" alert, or open Connections > Apps and services > Apple Health > Manage data and access.
Duplicate workouts
Usually caused by a loop through Strava or another app that also writes to Apple Health. Record each workout in one app only, or delete the duplicate in Apple Health.

Fitbit / Pixel Watch and Apple Health: questions
Does Fitbit sync with Apple Health in 2026?
Yes. Since Google Health 5.05 (3 August 2026) the app formerly called Fitbit writes workouts, steps, heart rate, sleep, SpO2, weight and other data to Apple Health. Before that there was no official sync.
What happened to the Fitbit app?
Starting 19 May 2026 the Fitbit app became the Google Health app. Fitbit accounts were retired in favour of Google Accounts, and Fitbit Premium became Google Health Premium.
Does Fitbit send HRV to Apple Health?
No. Google Health reads HRV from Apple Health but does not write its own HRV there, because Google and Apple calculate it differently.
Can I use a Google Pixel Watch with an iPhone?
Not officially. Google's compatibility page says Pixel Watch works only with Android phones. The third-party app Merge claims to pair Wear OS watches, including Pixel Watch, with an iPhone and write health data to Apple Health, but the watch still has to be activated with an Android phone.
Will my old Fitbit history appear in Apple Health?
Google's release notes, as reported at launch, let you choose to sync the past 30 days or your full history when you connect.
Do I still need a third-party Fitbit-to-Health app?
For most data, no. A third-party app is only needed for types Google does not write, such as HRV.
