How to sync Wahoo with Apple Health

Yes. The Wahoo iPhone app lists Apple Health (iOS only) as an authorized app. Rides from ELEMNT ACE, BOLT 3 and ROAM 3, KICKR sessions and Wahoo Apple Watch workouts are written to Health as workouts with duration, distance, calories and heart rate. Older ELEMNT, BOLT 1/2 and ROAM 1/2 units share through the ELEMNT companion app, and ELEMNT RIVAL also pushes steps and sleep.

Key caveats: auto-share is off by default, SYSTM does not write to Apple Health, and a ride that also reaches Health through Strava appears twice.

How to connect Wahoo to Apple Health

5 steps on your iPhone, about two minutes.

Before you start

  • iPhone with the Wahoo app (ELEMNT ACE, BOLT 3, ROAM 3, KICKR, TICKR, Wahoo app for Apple Watch) or the ELEMNT app (ELEMNT, BOLT 1/2, ROAM 1/2, RIVAL)
  • A Wahoo account (rides sync through the Wahoo Cloud)
  • Apple Health authorized in the app, with auto-share on
  1. Open Authorized Apps (Wahoo app)

Wahoo app → Today tab → profile icon (top left) → Account page → Authorized Apps.

    1. Wahoo app
    2. Today tab
    3. profile icon
    4. Account page
    5. Authorized Apps
  2. Authorize Apple Health

Under Available apps, tap Apple Health (iOS only), then allow the categories on the Apple Health permission screen (Turn On All recommended) → Allow.

  3. Turn on auto-share

Tap the down arrow next to Apple Health and toggle Auto-share on. It's off by default, so skipping this step means rides won't flow.

  4. Older ELEMNT / BOLT 1/2 / ROAM 1/2 / RIVAL

ELEMNT app → Profile tab → Authorized apps → pick the partner to authorize. Then Settings tab → Automatic upload must be on, with that partner toggled on in the submenu.

    1. ELEMNT app
    2. Profile tab
    3. Authorized apps
  5. TICKR heart-rate straps

TICKR doesn't sync to Health by itself. Pair it with the Wahoo app, an ELEMNT, or an Apple Watch (Watch Settings → Bluetooth → Health Devices) and the recording app saves the heart rate.

After setup

After a ride, the ELEMNT uploads it to the Wahoo app over Bluetooth or straight to the Wahoo Cloud over Wi-Fi. The app then shares it to Apple Health. To force it, open the Wahoo app → History and pull down to sync. Nothing is shared in real time. The ELEMNT RIVAL watch pushes steps and sleep to Health at intervals during the day. Old rides aren't back-filled; you can share them by hand from History → ••• → Share activity.

Avoid double-counting

The usual duplicate is one ride arriving twice: Wahoo writes it to Health, Wahoo also auto-uploads it to Strava, and Strava's Send to Health writes it again (without the route). Pick one writer. Either leave Wahoo → Apple Health on and turn off Strava → Settings → Manage Apps and Devices → Health → Send to Health, or turn off Apple Health in Wahoo. If you also start an Apple Watch Workout on the same ride, turn off Workouts for one of the two in Health app → profile → Privacy: Apps. For RIVAL steps, Wahoo says to open Health → Steps → Data Sources & Access and move ELEMNT to the top. Source priority dedups steps and calories, not whole workouts.

Put Wahoo app (ELEMNT app for older units) first in Apple Health

  1. Health
  2. Browse
  3. Activity
  4. Steps
  5. Data Sources & Access
  6. Edit
  1. Open the Health app and tap Browse.
  2. Choose a category and a data type, for example Activity → Steps.
  3. Scroll down and tap Data Sources & Access.
  4. Tap Edit, then touch and hold the handle next to your device’s app and drag it to the top.
  5. Tap Done. Repeat for other data types you track with more than one device, such as Active Energy or Walking + Running Distance.

The source at the top wins when several write the same data type. New apps and devices are added at the top automatically. Apple Support ↗

Wahoo not syncing to Apple Health?

Rides don't appear in Apple Health

Check Wahoo app → profile icon → Authorized Apps → Apple Health shows as authorized, with Auto-share on. Pull down on the History tab to sync the ride from the ELEMNT, and make sure Workouts is allowed under Health → profile → Privacy: Apps → Wahoo. If it still fails, deauthorize and re-authorize Apple Health in the Wahoo app. Wahoo fixed several 'workouts fail to be written to Apple Health' bugs in app 6.84.1, so update first.

SYSTM workouts never reach Apple Health

Wahoo says SYSTM doesn't share with Apple Health. Connect SYSTM to Strava (or another Health-enabled app) and let that app write to Health, or record the session in the Wahoo app.

Heart rate in Health has odd values or timestamps

Users have reported shifted heart-rate timestamps after some app versions. Update the Wahoo app. The ride file in Wahoo/Strava is still correct; delete the bad workout in Health if needed.

Can I use Apple Watch as a heart-rate monitor for ELEMNT/KICKR?

No. Wahoo says Apple Watch doesn't broadcast heart rate over standard Bluetooth/ANT+, so use a TICKR or another chest strap. You can also record with the Wahoo app for Apple Watch (watchOS 11+, iOS 18+).

RIVAL steps don't count in Health

Health → Browse → Activity → Steps → Data Sources & Access → Edit → move ELEMNT to the top. Users still report patchy RIVAL step sync, so open the ELEMNT app regularly.

Ride shows up twice (Wahoo + Strava)

Turn off Strava's Send to Health, or turn off Apple Health in Wahoo, then delete the extra workout in Health → Browse → Activity → Workouts → Show All Data.

Wahoo and Apple Health: questions

Does Wahoo ELEMNT sync with Apple Health?

Yes. Completed rides are shared from the Wahoo app (ACE, BOLT 3, ROAM 3) or the ELEMNT app (older units) once Apple Health is authorized and auto-share is on.

Does the Wahoo TICKR sync to Apple Health?

Not directly. TICKR is a sensor. The app that records it (Wahoo app, Apple Watch Workout app, etc.) saves the heart rate to Health.

Can I pair a TICKR with my Apple Watch?

Yes. Wake the strap, then on Apple Watch open Settings → Bluetooth and select it under Health Devices. The Workout app will use it for heart rate.

Does Wahoo send power and cadence to Apple Health?

Wahoo doesn't document exporting power or cadence to Health. Expect duration, distance, calories and heart rate; the full .FIT file goes to Strava/TrainingPeaks.

Why are my old Wahoo rides missing from Health?

Only rides completed after authorizing are auto-shared. Share older ones manually from History → ••• → Share activity.
