How to sync MyFitnessPal with Apple Health
Yes. MyFitnessPal writes your food diary (meal summaries, calories and most nutrients) to Apple Health, syncs weight both ways, and reads exercise, steps and sleep from Health. Apple Watch workouts appear in MFP's exercise diary automatically.
Key caveats: exercise logged in MFP is not sent to Health, Health exercise only syncs on the same day, and no historical data is pulled.

Menu names checked against MyFitnessPal’s help pages on October 27, 2026. Apps change; if a menu looks different, see the sources below.
After setup
Food you log goes to Health as you log it. Exercise from Health shows up when you open MFP, under Today → Healthy Habits as an 'Apple Health Exercise', but only on the same day; anything synced after midnight doesn't carry over. Steps sync at set intervals, not live. Only data logged after you connect syncs. Apple Health won't appear under Connected Apps in MFP, and that's normal.
Avoid double-counting
Duplicates in Health happen when more than one nutrition app writes Dietary Energy (MFP plus Lose It!, Cronometer, a meal-kit app and so on). Turn off the Nutrition categories for all but one app (Health → profile → Privacy: Apps), or set priority in Health → Browse → Nutrition → Dietary Energy → Data Sources & Access → Edit. Inside MFP, exercise can be counted twice if a workout arrives from Apple Health and you also log it by hand, or if Garmin or another partner also sends it to MFP. Keep one exercise source. MFP's Calorie Adjustment is built to avoid double-counting step and cardio calories.

- Open the Health app and tap Browse.
- Choose a category and a data type, for example Activity → Steps.
- Scroll down and tap Data Sources & Access.
- Tap Edit, then touch and hold the handle next to your device’s app and drag it to the top.
- Tap Done. Repeat for other data types you track with more than one device, such as Active Energy or Walking + Running Distance.
The source at the top wins when several write the same data type. New apps and devices are added at the top automatically. Apple Support ↗
MyFitnessPal not syncing to Apple Health?
Apple Health isn't listed under Connected Apps in MyFitnessPal
That's expected. Apple Health is part of iOS, so the link lives in Settings → Sharing & Privacy → HealthKit Sharing and in iPhone Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → MyFitnessPal.
Yesterday's workout didn't sync to MFP
Health exercise only syncs on the same day. Open MFP before midnight after a workout. Log missed ones manually.
Nothing syncs between Health and MFP
Check categories in iPhone Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → MyFitnessPal. Add a test weight or workout in Health and see if it appears. If not, tap More → Sync, confirm your data shows on myfitnesspal.com, then reinstall MFP and reconnect.
Apple Watch calories don't match MFP
MFP reads steps and workouts but doesn't use the watch's separate active calories, so totals will differ. Check the Calorie Adjustment breakdown in Today → Exercise.
Old data didn't come across
MFP can't pull historical Health data. Only entries after you connect sync.
Wrong data on a shared iPhone
Health can't tell MFP accounts apart. Don't connect Apple Health if several MFP accounts are used on one iPhone.
