How to sync Peloton with Apple Health

Yes, in both directions. The Peloton iPhone app writes your Peloton workouts from Bike, Tread, Row, Guide or the app to Apple Health with heart rate, active energy and distance, plus cycling and running power and speed. It can also import workouts from Apple Health into Peloton history and Streaks.

Key caveats: the iPhone Peloton app must be opened to sync, Apple Health is iPhone-only, and Strava auto-post combined with Strava's Send to Health counts workouts twice.

How to connect Peloton to Apple Health

5 steps on your iPhone, about two minutes.

Before you start

  • iPhone with the latest Peloton app, signed in to your Peloton account
  • Peloton permissions granted in Apple Health (Read and/or Write)
  • Optional: Apple Watch with the Peloton watch app for heart rate
  1. Open Connected Apps & Devices

Peloton app → Profile tab (bottom right) → menu (three lines, top right) → Connected Apps & Devices → Apple Health.

After setup

After you connect, open the Peloton iPhone app so it syncs your full workout history to Health. Later classes, including ones taken on Bike, Tread or Row hardware, go to Health when the iPhone app syncs. Keep the app open until an import finishes. With an Apple Watch, start the class on the Peloton hardware or iPhone app, tap Connect on the watch, and always end the class on the Peloton device, not the watch.

Avoid double-counting

Peloton's help center warns that Strava users may see workouts counted twice. The usual chain is Peloton → Health plus Peloton auto-post → Strava → Send to Health. Fix: either turn off Send to Health in Strava (Settings → Manage Apps and Devices → Health), or turn off Peloton's Strava auto-post. Don't also start a separate Apple Watch Workout app session during a Peloton class: the Peloton watch app already supplies heart rate and the Peloton app writes the workout. If you use GymKit on the Bike+, check that only one workout per class appears. Delete extras in Health → Browse → Activity → Workouts → Show All Data. Source priority (Data Sources & Access → Edit) dedups calories and distance only.

Peloton not syncing to Apple Health?

Peloton workouts don't appear in Apple Health

Open the Peloton iPhone app (hardware classes sync through it), then check Health → profile → Privacy: Apps → Peloton and make sure the Write categories (Workouts, Active Energy, Heart Rate, Distance) are on. Update the app, or disconnect and reconnect via Profile → menu → Connected Apps & Devices → Apple Health.

Workouts are counted twice

Usually Strava: turn off Strava's Send to Health or Peloton's Strava auto-post, then delete duplicates in Health. Peloton's older guidance was to delete Strava's workout data in Health.

Apple Watch shows no heart rate during a class

Turn off Low Power Mode on the iPhone and watch, make sure the band is snug, then re-run Apple Watch setup in the Peloton app so Health and Motion & Fitness permissions are granted.

Imported activities don't show up in Peloton

Allow Peloton to Read categories in Health, keep the Peloton app open while it syncs, and make sure auto-import (or the activity type) is on. Use the latest app version for Streaks to count.

Calories or distance differ between Peloton and Apple Watch

They calculate differently. Pick one source first for Active Energy in Health (Browse → Activity → Active Energy → Data Sources & Access → Edit).

No Apple Health option on Android or on the Bike screen

Apple Health exists only on iPhone. Hardware workouts reach it through the Peloton iPhone app on the same account.
