How to sync WHOOP with Apple Health
Yes. The WHOOP iPhone app writes workouts, active energy, heart rate during activities and sleep, sleep sessions, resting heart rate, respiratory rate, blood oxygen and steps to Apple Health, and can read Apple Watch workouts, weight and cycle data back.
Key caveats: WHOOP does not export HRV (it measures RMSSD, Apple uses SDNN), all-day heart rate, Recovery/Strain scores or GPS routes, and users report Apple Health shows WHOOP sleep only as time asleep, without stages.

What WHOOP syncs to Apple Health
Apple Health data types, checked against official documentation on October 27, 2026.
| Data type | Apple Health | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Workouts | Syncs | Auto-detected and logged activities with heart rate and active energy. GPS routes: not exported (WHOOP only imports routes from Health). |

| Active energy | Syncs | |
| Heart rate | Partly | Only during activities and sleep; all-day heart rate is not exported. |
| Resting heart rate | Syncs | |
| HRV | Doesn’t sync | WHOOP calculates RMSSD; Apple Health stores SDNN. WHOOP does not export HRV. |
| Sleep | Partly | Sleep sessions are logged automatically; users report only In Bed/Asleep reach Health, without REM/deep/core stages. |
| Blood oxygen | Syncs | |
| Respiratory rate | Syncs | |
| VO2 max | Doesn’t sync | |
| Weight / body composition | Doesn’t sync | Read only: WHOOP imports weight and height from Health. |

After setup
WHOOP writes data from the app after the strap syncs to the phone; it is not instant. Sleep and recovery metrics appear after WHOOP processes the night, and members regularly report steps arriving in Health hours later. Keep Background App Refresh on for WHOOP. Editing or deleting an activity in WHOOP updates the copy in Health. If you reinstall WHOOP, you must re-enable the integration.
Avoid double-counting
With an Apple Watch and WHOOP together, steps, heart rate, active energy and workouts can be counted twice. Health app → Browse → Activity → Steps (and Active Energy) → Data Sources & Access → Edit → drag the source you trust to the top → Done. For workouts, WHOOP warns that having both import and export on increases duplicates: if your Apple Watch already records workouts, turn off WHOOP's 'Workouts' write permission in Health → profile → Apps → WHOOP. Apple Watch workouts imported into WHOOP overwrite overlapping auto-detected WHOOP activities.

- Data Sources & Access
- Edit
- Open the Health app and tap Browse.
- Choose a category and a data type, for example Activity → Steps.
- Scroll down and tap Data Sources & Access.
- Tap Edit, then touch and hold the handle next to your device’s app and drag it to the top.
- Tap Done. Repeat for other data types you track with more than one device, such as Active Energy or Walking + Running Distance.
The source at the top wins when several write the same data type. New apps and devices are added at the top automatically. Apple Support ↗
WHOOP not syncing to Apple Health?
Stuck on 'Connecting your Apple Health data'
Update the WHOOP app, force-quit and reopen it, then go to More → App Settings → Integrations → Apple Health and reconnect with all categories allowed. Restart the iPhone if it stays stuck.
HRV is missing in Apple Health
Expected. WHOOP does not export HRV because it measures RMSSD and Apple Health stores SDNN.
Sleep stages are missing in Apple Health
Users report WHOOP writes only time in bed and time asleep; REM/deep/core stages stay in the WHOOP app. No fix on the user side.
Duplicate workouts in Apple Health
Turn off the Workouts write permission for WHOOP (Health → profile → Apps → WHOOP) if another app or Apple Watch already writes them.
Steps or data arrive late or stop syncing
Check the strap is connected over Bluetooth, open the WHOOP app to force a sync, confirm Steps is allowed under Health → profile → Apps → WHOOP, turn on Background App Refresh, and restart the phone. As a last resort reinstall WHOOP and reconnect Apple Health.
Calories differ between WHOOP and Apple Health
WHOOP uses its own calorie algorithm; Apple totals depend on which source is first in Data Sources & Access.
